Fritz defeats Zverev for stunning Wimbledon victory

American rallies from two sets down to shock fourth seed

Taylor Fritz earned one of the most stunning victories of Wimbledon on Monday, rallying from two sets down to shock fourth seed Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (2), 6-2 on Centre Court.

Fritz blows hole in Zverev's perfect serving record

Fritz blew a hole in Zverev's perfect serving record at this year's Wimbledon, with the German failing to serve out the match when leading 5-4 in the third set. Fritz then took the tie-break 7-2 to level the match.

Fritz completes comeback in five sets

Fritz continued his momentum in the fourth set, breaking Zverev's serve twice to take it 7-6 (2). He then broke Zverev's serve twice more in the fifth set to complete the remarkable comeback.

The victory is Fritz's best ever at a Grand Slam, and it sees him reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the first time.

Fritz will now face Jason Kubler in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
