Early Career

Enzo Maresca: A Profile of the Chelsea Assistant Manager

Early Career

Vincenzo Enzo Maresca was born on February 10, 1980, in Pontecagnano Faiano, Italy. He began his playing career with local club Pontecagnano, before moving to Serie A club Juventus in 1999.

Fiorentina and Sevilla

In 2004, Maresca joined Fiorentina, where he spent two seasons before moving to Sevilla. He spent four years with the Spanish club, winning the UEFA Cup in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, he returned to Italy to play for Juventus again.

Later Career

Maresca spent the rest of his playing career in Italy, playing for Palermo, Sampdoria, and Genoa. He retired from playing in 2013.

Coaching Career

Maresca began his coaching career in 2014, as the manager of Serie D club Ascoli. He led the club to promotion to Serie C in his first season. In 2015, he was appointed manager of Serie B club Frosinone. He led the club to promotion to Serie A in his first season, and kept them in the top flight for two seasons.

Chelsea

In 2019, Maresca was appointed assistant manager of Chelsea. He has been a key member of Frank Lampard's coaching staff, helping the club to win the FA Cup in 2020.
