Blue Jays Bolster Lineup With Signing Of Justin Turner

Blue Jays bolster lineup with signing of Justin Turner

Slugger brings power and experience to Toronto

Former All-Star adds depth to Blue Jays' offense

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran slugger Justin Turner to a one-year, $13 million deal, the team announced Tuesday. The 38-year-old brings a wealth of experience and power to the Blue Jays' lineup, having batted .314 with 54 homers and 33 RBIs in 60 home games last season. He ranks third among active players in on-base percentage (.388) and has been an All-Star four times.

"We are thrilled to add a player of Justin's caliber to our team," said Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins. "He is a proven hitter with a track record of success, and we believe he will be a valuable addition to our lineup." Turner is expected to play first base and DH for the Blue Jays, providing the team with a much-needed power boost. He has hit at least 20 homers in each of the past five seasons and has driven in 100 or more runs in four of the past five years.

The signing of Turner is the latest move by the Blue Jays to bolster their lineup for the upcoming season. The team has also added outfielder George Springer and catcher Danny Jansen to the roster, giving them one of the most potent offenses in the American League.

"I am excited to join the Blue Jays and contribute to their success," said Turner. "I believe we have a chance to do something special this year, and I am looking forward to being a part of it."
