Boston Red Sox Suspend Jarren Duran for Two Games

Duran's Suspension Follows a Poor Performance on Sunday

Outfielder Chose Not to Run Out a Ground Ball in a Key Moment

The Boston Red Sox have suspended outfielder Jarren Duran for two games without pay, the team announced on Monday. The suspension stems from Duran's decision not to run out a ground ball in the ninth inning of Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins.

With the Red Sox trailing by one run, Duran fielded a ground ball hit by Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas. Instead of running hard to first base, Duran hesitated and appeared to jog towards the bag. Rojas was able to beat Duran's throw to first, and the Marlins went on to win the game 3-2.

Duran's lack of effort was widely criticized, and the Red Sox wasted no time in disciplining the young outfielder. "We expect all of our players to play hard and give maximum effort on every play," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said in a statement. "Jarren made a poor decision yesterday, and we have decided to suspend him for two games."
