The regulated Brazilian sports betting and igaming market is due to go live in January 2025 after the country's President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, signed a landmark regulation bill into law this week.

Although the legislative timeline calls for the market to open next year, Flutter Entertainment CEO Peter Jackson said it's more likely that operators will have to wait until 2026 before they can launch. Flutter is the parent company of PokerStars, FanDuel and Betfair.

Flutter acquired Italy's Sisal earlier this month for $2.18 billion in cash.
