MLB All-Star Game Voting: Acuña, Ohtani Lead Early

Phase 1 Results Announced

Phase 1 of the 2023 MLB All-Star Game fan voting wrapped up on Thursday, with Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. and Los Angeles Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani leading the way in the National League and American League, respectively.

Acuña, Ohtani Locked In

With each league's top vote-getter assured a starting spot in the Midsummer Classic, Acuña and Ohtani have all but clinched their berths. Acuña, who missed most of last season due to injury, has been on a tear in the early going this season, while Ohtani continues to amaze with his two-way prowess.

Rounding out the top five vote-getters in the NL are Mookie Betts (Dodgers), Paul Goldschmidt (Cardinals), and Manny Machado (Padres), while Yordan Alvarez (Astros), Mike Trout (Angels), Aaron Judge (Yankees), Bo Bichette (Blue Jays), and Jose Ramirez (Guardians) trail Ohtani in the AL.

Phase 2 of the voting process, which will determine the remaining starting spots and the reserves, runs from June 12th to June 29th. The All-Star Game will be held at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on July 11th.
